Bar of Many Colors: Gospel Gifts

It is the greatest love story of all time.  You have the best NEWS ever!  It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  But, why is it so hard to share the best News you have ever heard?

You practice and rehearse ways to break the ice.  Yet you stammer, stutter, and slink away feeling ineffective.  I get it.  Even as an experienced missionary, I struggle to find the words.

I have sat in one conference after another that outlined techniques for evangelism.  Moreover, I traveled foreign lands with the best of the best and watched them work wonders.  They found the words, delivered the message, and experienced results.

Me? Not so much.  It was all so awkward.  I wrongly concluded evangelism belongs to the elite who took years of seminary training.

The bible clearly commands us to …”go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15).  We can’t escape the directive to share our faith.

If you are like me, you find this whole task anxiety producing.  Sharing my faith became easier when I realized I do not have to be like my missionary friends.  I could share my faith in a different way.

God gives each of us different talents.  Spending years in seminary would not likely help me.  Instead, I could use my talent as an artisan soap maker to share my love of Christ through Gospel gifts.  I use color and fragrances to symbolize the Gospel. The words found in the tract inside of my soap packaging reinforce the Good News with corresponding scripture.  It is a unique and creative way to tell others about Jesus.

  1. Chris , Under your -Fourth you might briefly go thru each color and Bible verse that goes with each color. It might spark more thought of the person reading it. Mike. Morris
